Avon Area Open Competition – Sunday 14 July 2019

It is with great regret that we are posting this notice to advise you that this competition will not be able to take place.  In planning for this event, we had identified the minimum number of entries required to be able to go ahead.  Unfortunately, despite your support we did not receive enough entries to be able to proceed.  We greatly appreciate your support and want to reassure you that we continue to explore all avenues to ensure that this and other Area events can take place in the future.

We will be working with BJC Headquarters to arrange the reimbursement of entry fees already paid.

Once again, thank you for your support.

Adrian Morgan

Welcome to the website for the Avon Area of the British Judo Council. The aim of this website is to provide all members of the Avon Area an information point and to let them know who are the members of the Area Committee.

I would like to thank all of the committee members, past & present, for all of their hard work in getting our Avon Area events up and running. Some may have more input than others, but all of their input is and has been equally appreciated. Without these people, our events would not be run as smoothly or as efficiently as they are. Of course, it is not just the elected committee that contribute to the running of these events, we also have to thank all of the other volunteers that spend their free time in helping to keep the events flowing on the day of the event as well as helping set up and pack away after everyone else has gone home. A special thanks also to Richard Rogers for putting this website together and maintaining it for us.

For anyone wanting to get involved in helping with events or the general running of the Area, I actively encourage you to come along and offer your help and attend the Committee meetings, as these meetings are open to all members of the Avon Area aged 16 and above. Even if you are just curious as to what goes on.

Included on this website is the details for each of the clubs that are a part of the Avon Area. If your own club is closed then I am sure that any of the other clubs in the Area will be pleased to welcome you onto their tatami. While every effort has been made to ensure that the information on this site is correct, it is still advised that you contact the club you are interested in visiting to make sure that advertised times are correct and to make sure the class is running when you plan to attend.

As this website is fairly new, please bear with us while we add more information and build a history, such as the efforts and achievements of our Avon Area Squad. We hope that there will be something for everyone on this website, whether it be for the competitive Judoka, the Judoka interested in Kata, or just the recreational Judoka who are the cornerstone of all clubs learning and building their Judo knowledge and skills each training session.

If you have any questions about the content of this website, or any suggestions of what you would like to see included then please come and speak to any of the Area Committee.

We hope to see you on the tatami at one of our events soon.

Matt Hope – Avon Area Technical Officer.
